This Easter, come down to the May Fair Hotel and join the World’s biggest Egg Hunt! As London becomes home to 200 giant and uniquely crafted eggs, the May Fair Hotel will house one of the most decadent and sought-after eggs in the collection, exclusively created by top fashion designer Mary Katrantzou. This Designer Egg will take up its residency at the May Fair and will be on display for 40 days and 40 nights. A flirtatious mix of fashion and art, the capital’s coolest Easter Egg is hiding in the May Fair Hotel – and it’s worth seeking out!

As the Fabergé Big Egg Hunt launches this February, it is set to be the most interactive and exhilarating Easter adventure the world has seen. Locals, visitors and tourists alike will take to the streets of London to hunt these 200 hidden treasures …

As the cultural hotel of choice among the good and the great, The May Fair will be the perfect host to one of the Egg Hunt’s most celebrated designs. Adorned with an army of tiny metal flowers, Swarovski crystals, bells and whistles, the vibrant three-colour tiered Egg is described as “Man Meets Machine Meets Mother Earth” and is destined to become a highly collectible work of art. Paying homage to true Flower Power, this Egg is one to watch – just like its creator. Mary Katrantzou has burst onto the scene as fashion’s biggest emerging talent this year, and her profile is going from strength to strength. Having already created her own ranges for Swarovski and Longchamp, Mary Katrantzou has shown at London Fashion Week this February, and has just launched her signature bold graphics at Topshop as part of a limited edition collection.

Supporting the latest in fashion, art, music and theatre, The May Fair’s timely collaboration with Mary Katrantzou, the reigning ‘Queen of Prints’, is the perfect addition to its Easter celebrations, and really cements the foundations of creativity and elegance on which the hotel has made its name.

The Fabergé Big Egg Hunt is the first event of its kind and aims to raise vital funds and awareness for charities Action for Children and Elephant Family, while also celebrating the most exciting and inspired artistic talent the world has ever seen. In addition, participants of The Fabergé Big Egg Hunt will have the chance of winning the world’s most extraordinary prize: The Fabergé Tribute Egg, a fabulous creation valued at over £100,000.

Mason Williams Communications have won a four way pitch to launch Gillray’s, the new steakhouse and bar, opening at the London Marriott Hotel County Hall in March.

The new restaurant will be a truly English experience and feature the best of English beef and seasonal produce. Over thirty gins will also be showcased and new cocktails created taking an influence from the satirical works of James Gillray whose political comment was the talk of London in the late eighteenth century.

Managing Director Rita Rowe said: ”This was a very competitive pitch against some of the best agencies in the country so the win is especially sweet. Gillray’s Steakhouse and Bar will be a famous destination restaurant that will be a must for anyone visiting the capital and we are excited and delighted that we will be putting a stamp on the personality and the promotion of this wonderful new dining experience.”

Sioned Parry-Rudlin, Director of Sales and Marketing for The London Marriott Hotel County Hall said: “We were particularly impressed with Mason Williams’ passion and creativity. Their enthusiasm, zest and energy really hooked us at the pitch and we are really happy with our campaign. The agency will help us to create something new in the capital that locals and visitors from UK and abroad will hear about.”

Gillray’s Steakhouse and Bar will be the most English of English dining destinations, from the interior design to each cut of beef. Set in the County Hall, built 100 years ago to house London’s government, with views of the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, few can claim a more inherently English location or vista.

The Barbican Foodhall and Barbican Lounge are celebrating an impressive hat-trick of industry award wins at this year’s International Hotel & Property Awards and Restaurant and Bar Design Awards. The Barbican Foodhall scooped the award for ‘Best Restaurant, bar or club in another space’ and the Lounge received the accolade for ‘Best Independent Restaurant’ at the Restaurant and Bar Design Awards. The Lounge has also received the prize for ‘Best Bar/Lounge/Club’ at the 2011 International Hotel & Property Award annual award ceremony which was held in Monte Carlo.

Both venues, located in one of London’s iconic buildings – the Barbican Arts Centre, wowed the judges with their impressive design and layout.

The International Hotel & Property Awards are organised by leading design magazine design et al, commending design, recognising talent, creating opportunities and offering inspiration. Short-listed entries are presented online and voting is open to industry professionals as well as design et al readers, clients and customers.

The Restaurant & Bar Design Awards reward both designers and operators for design excellence. The judging panel consists of industry leaders including magazine editors, restaurant founders and designers.

A destination restaurant and lounge bar, the Barbican Lounge is representative of the Barbican Centre’s world-renowned reputation for art and performance. The bold design blends a striking colour palette of peacock green – an exact colour match to an image of the Barbican lake in summer – with splashes of Chinese red, historically used as a reference colour throughout the Barbican Centre.

Respect has been paid to the original architecture of the building including its concrete ceilings and aggregate walls. The traditional is complemented by modern and eclectic touches including vintage and bespoke furniture, feature areas and lighting.

Focal points include the kitchen, clad in solid timber, whilst the striking bar, which continues through the glazing onto the outside terrace, is in black glass with a black mosaic bar front.

Commenting on the award wins, Nick Rudlin, Director of Operations of the Barbican Foodhall and Lounge said, “This recognition is testament to the hard work and commitment of the designers, architects and the teams working at both the Foodhall and Lounge and we are thrilled to have won three great accolades. We look forward to continuing to welcome guests and hope they will relax and enjoy the comfort and design of both venues as much as the great food on offer.”

Nick Rudlin works for Compass Group UK & Ireland which is responsible for operating and leading the Barbican Foodhall and Lounge.

1. Emily Conradi

Prior to my month-long internship at Mason Williams, I worked for three years as a writer for a international magazine. Being approached by PRs every day filled me with curiosity to see what life was like on the other side. What I love about Mason Williams is the variety and the opportunity they give you to really achieve results. From day one I felt I was given responsibility and I knew that my time there would be whatever I made it. The variety of brands you get to work on is brilliant – from consumer to trade, beauty to renewable energy – you’re always learning something new.

I’ve really enjoyed my internship here and would recommend it to anyone interested in a career in PR. The Mason Williams team made me feel so welcome and I’d like to thank them for such a great opportunity.

2. Ben Magee

I thoroughly enjoyed my recent internship with Mason Williams. There are plenty of different projects to get involved in and exercise my current skills and various parts of my degree in Advertising and Brand Management. I have found myself contacting editors asking them about certain client’s products one day, and the next day I am working with other team members thinking of creative ideas for the website, or testing the Hasbro’s toys in the back and dubbing it ‘Market research’!

The team is friendly, precise and professional. On my first day I was given a structured information pack, which did a good job of settling me in to my job role. If I have any questions the team is always ready to help, keeping me busy and developing a forward thinking, learning culture, turning what may seem like a daunting experience, in to an accessible and enjoyable one. Everything I get given genuinely contributes to the firm too, making the workload more meaningful and creating a motivational atmosphere that the team seems to share. I hope to maintain the skills I have learned whilst on placement here. I shall combine them with other skills I have gained from other firms such as the Isle of Wight Council, JCB, and Virgin to help build my portfolio.
